Fascinated by the divided state history of Maryland, Kathy set Slaves to Freedom in Baltimoretowne, Maryland, as it was known in the 19th century. Kathy is also fascinated by Irish history, particularly during the time of the Irish Potato Famine and the survival of immigrants in the New World. Slaves to Freedom explores the survival of Irish immigrants and slaves on a plantation as well as the friendships and family life of women who lived there.
Kathy has published numerous magazine articles on historical topics. An avid outdoorswoman, she has also published articles about cross country skiing, hiking, canoeing, and bicycling.
When she is not writing, she can be found in local parks walking her two energetic dogs.
